The 12U team was a finalist in the 2017 Oxford Summer Showcase and took home 2nd place. Congratulations to the 12U team for reaching the finals and continue to work hard boys. Go Gladiators!
The 15U team traveled to Michigan City, Indiana June 15-18 to complete in the Midwest Baseball Championship. Indiana, Illinois and Ohio were all represented with a total of 18 teams, with the 15U Gladiators being the sole representative of Michigan. The Gladiators did not disappoint by finishing the pool play 3-1 and as the second seed . Moving into Sunday, the Gladiators defeated the first two opponents in bracket play with strong pitching and timely hitting. The championship game saw the Gladiators playing their 7th game of the tournament and facing the Indiana Land Sharks. A stellar pitching performance by Colby Phipps held the Land Sharks at bay while the Gladiators were able to grab the lead. It was close game to the end, however the 15U team fell short and were Runners Up. The team battled injury and some hot weather during the course of the weekend to make a push for the title.
Over the weekend of June 22-25, the 15U team competed in the Oakland University Wood Bat tournament. Competition was high for the event, however the Gladiators were undefeated in pool play and went into Championship Sunday with the goal of winning it all. Two more victories on Sunday led to a match against the Downriver Hawks. The final score of 5-2 did not go our way and we suffered the only loss of the weekend and finished 4-1. Pitching was outstanding with three (3) complete games being masterfully managed by the Gladiator hurlers.
It was a great weekend for 14u White as they won the Berkley Summer Classic in true Gladiator style! The boys went into the brackets as the top seed then won the mercy in the semi-finals and took it all with a shutout in the championship. We are so proud of all our boys and how they battled each game. Special thanks to all the families for a long victorious weekend!
9u Gladiators took home the gold this weekend at the 10th Annual Cavalier Diamond Classic. The team dominated their first game Friday night against Swartz Creek Dragons winning the contest 18-6. The Gladiators lost a close game Saturday morning to Rip City of Fenton 3-2. However, they bounced back in impressive fashion winning game 3, 11-1 against the Crossroads Coyotes. The win vaulted them to the championship game and a rematch vs. Rip City on Father’s Day afternoon. The Gladiators came to play dominating the match and winning the championship 7-2. The Gladiators pitchers racked up 15 strike-outs in the final game, and had 44 strikeouts total in the 4 game set and outscored opponents 38-12. This was the first tournament championship for the team this year and a well deserved victory in front of a raucous crowd full of proud dad’s and grandpa’s. Go Gladiators!
